Richard Galbraith — Senior Associate

ATRS is pleased to present Richard Galbraith as a senior business and commercial manager with tertiary qualifications and over 25 years practical experience in rail freight management.

 

Richard’s specialist experience and skills include the key areas of commercial management and contractual negotiations with customers and suppliers, operations management and cost modelling, people management, business development, strategic business planning, business analysis, and rail network access management.

 

Senior management positions held by Richard include General Manager Bulk Products with Pacific National & Asciano, General Manager Business Development Bulk Freight Services with the National Rail Corporation, and Manager Corporate Strategy and Planning with the National Rail Corporation.

 

Since establishing a consultancy business in 2009, Richard has provided consulting services to the private rail freight sector and Government specialising in commercial and customer negotiations, guidance on business development, operational reviews and cost estimation, and strategic asset management.  Major clients have included Whitehaven Coal Limited, IMX Resources Limited, Queensland Rail, Kaplan Funds Management, Bemax Resources Limited and World Bank.

 

Richard’s earlier management consultancy experience also includes working for Travers Morgan Pty Ltd, advising Government and private sector organisations in Australia and internationally in the United Kingdom, China, and Pacific Islands Region.

 

The formal qualifications and memberships held by Richard include a Bachelor of Applied Science (Hons 1st Class) – Major in Economics and Human Geography UNSW 1979, a Thesis in Applied Transport Planning Models, a Graduate Diploma Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) 2001, and Member Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) since 1985.
