Tom Jones - Senior Associate

ATRS is pleased to introduce Tom Jones as the company specialist consultant in freight logistics and terminals management including engineering maintenance management.

 

In recent years, Tom has gained over 16 years extensive experience in the Australian rail industry managing a number of freight rail terminals and linehaul operations at varying times across all Australian mainland jurisdictions for both Pacific National and the National Rail Corporation. 

 

Tom is also experienced in terminal planning and performance, and in all aspects of the associated rail safety, OH&S, environmental, security and investigation legislative obligations and responsibilities.

 

During 2008 Tom gained significant experience working on an “off-shore” rail acquisition project in Saudi Arabia where he completed a project safety and training due diligence study and a corporate security induction and training plan.

 

Prior to the rail industry, Tom served 24 years in the New Zealand Army as an engineering officer, senior operations planner and training manager.  During this period Tom served with distinction as a United Nations Peace Keeping Officer in both Iran and Iraq.

 

Tom is a graduate of the New Zealand Command and Staff College with a Diploma In Military Studies.  Tom also holds a Diploma in Military Engineering and a Diploma in Heavy Electrical Installation gained while serving in the NZ Defence Force.

 

Other qualifications held by Tom include OH&S, compliance auditing, and training delivery and assessment.  Tom is also a trained accident investigator having completed the System Safety Accident Investigation training program inclusive of the Incident Causation and Affects Model (ICAM).
