Warwick Stoddart — Senior Associate |

ATRS is pleased to introduce Warwick Stoddart as a senior specialist railway rolling stock engineer, and maintenance and asset manager with over 40 years experience in the Australian rail industry.
As a professional mechanical engineer and respected member of the rail industry, Warwick is experienced in all aspects of railway rolling stock including locomotives, freight wagons and passenger cars.
Warwick has managed major projects from the initial specification and design phase to the acquisition and commissioning phase and through to on-going maintenance and general asset management.
Warwick is also highly experienced in strategic fleet management and participation in the development of commercial tenders.
Warwick's extensive career has included diverse roles from cadet engineer with the NSW Government Railway, through to Manager Rolling Stock Acquisition with Countrylink, Engineer Rolling Stock Compliance with the State Rail Authority of NSW, Manager Safety Incident Management System with the Rail Access Corporation, and Business Development & Fleet Manager with FreightCorp.
In more recent time, Warwick held various senior management roles with Pacific National Pty Ltd including Technical Services Manager with the Bulk Services Division. In this senior key role Warwick was responsible for managing all aspects of the technical support for the assets, operations and haulage contracts of the Pacific National Bulk Services Division.
This position acted as the owner of the Division’s 3,500 freight wagons and 300 locomotives providing the ‘informed purchaser’ interface between the Bulk Services Division and its service providers. During this period the role project managed the selection, acquisition and placement into service of new Australian built locomotives and Chinese built coal wagons at a capital cost of over $50M.
The role provided the technical basis for Pacific National bids for new bulk haulage business in NSW and other Australian States, including the successful bid to gain coal haulage contracts in Queensland. It also provided key support for the management of the interfaces with the Safety Regulators and Track Access Providers and assistance for Pacific National customers interfacing with these organisations.
Warwick's formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New South Wales. Warwick has also completed a range of additional qualifications including courses in risk management and safety compliance auditing.
Warwick joined ATRS as an Associate Consultant in late 2008 to provide professional and value adding client engineering and asset management services. |
